As long as the cows are healthy and the collection process is sanitary, raw milk is so much better for health. Someone needs to do a report on “The benefits and Harmfulness of Big Dairy’s Pasteurized milk” . I am amazed that any of us are here, being that our grandparents drank raw milk. ]]> Comment on UPDATE: Salmonella Cantaloupe Outbreak up from 141 to 178, Hospitalization up from 31 to 68, 1 new State, Deaths stay at 2 by susan larkin https://www.marlerblog.com/legal-cases/salmonella-cantaloupe-outbreak-up-from-141-to-178-hospitalization-up-from-31-to-68-one-new-state-dea/#comment-23350 Tue, 28 Aug 2012 22:23:22 +0000 http://marlerblog.default.wp.marler.lexblog.com/uncategorized/salmonella_cantaloupe_outbreak_up_from_141_to_178_hospitalization_up_from_31_to_68_one_new_state_dea/#comment-23350 A week ago tuesday. Comment on A recent Salmonella cantaloupe outbreak and a company’s bad response by Margaret https://www.marlerblog.com/lawyer-oped/a-recent-salmonella-cantaloupe-outbreak-and-a-companys-bad-response/#comment-23356 Tue, 28 Aug 2012 20:25:10 +0000 http://marlerblog.default.wp.marler.lexblog.com/uncategorized/a_recent_salmonella_cantaloupe_outbreak_and_a_companys_bad_response/#comment-23356 When I read this, I have the distinct impression that Del Monte acted like a bully in bringing suit against the FDA and the Oregon Public Health authorities. This looks as if they were more concerned with their image and public opinion than actually making sure the food they sell is safe and not contaminated. I have no confidence in a corporation that makes threats against those public agencies charged with making sure we don’t get sick or die from eating a piece of fruit.
Since learning this, I have lost confidence in Del Monte as a trusted corporation which is a great pity because I want to trust my food suppliers. Del Monte is a huge name in the fruit and vegetable industry, one I used to trust, and this is a big negative in my mind. ]]>

Facts and law are merely inconveniences to the wealthy In this age of poisoned political rhetoric. ]]> Comment on A recent Salmonella cantaloupe outbreak and a company’s bad response by Shari https://www.marlerblog.com/lawyer-oped/a-recent-salmonella-cantaloupe-outbreak-and-a-companys-bad-response/#comment-23354 Tue, 28 Aug 2012 13:11:32 +0000 http://marlerblog.default.wp.marler.lexblog.com/uncategorized/a_recent_salmonella_cantaloupe_outbreak_and_a_companys_bad_response/#comment-23354 Looking forward to your talk. I am assuming they are conventional, but it is surprising that this information is not noted in any reports. Were either both or one of the secondary cases among the family members that brought foods to the picnic? Costly, but perhaps identifying families that brought “suspect foods” and doing some environmental sampling of their homes might be an option…. ]]> Comment on It happened at the Picnic, but the E. coli source mystery continues by Carl Custer https://www.marlerblog.com/legal-cases/it-happened-at-the-picnic-but-the-e-coli-source-mystery-continues/#comment-23351 Sat, 25 Aug 2012 14:42:14 +0000 http://marlerblog.default.wp.marler.lexblog.com/uncategorized/it_happened_at_the_picnic_but_the_e_coli_source_mystery_continues/#comment-23351 Any PFGE matches in Pulse Net?

Comment on Best Advice from Government about Salmonella Cantaloupe – “When in doubt, throw it out.” by Tamara https://www.marlerblog.com/legal-cases/best-advice-from-government-about-salmonella-cantaloupe-when-in-doubt-throw-it-out/#comment-23348 Wed, 22 Aug 2012 17:36:45 +0000 http://marlerblog.default.wp.marler.lexblog.com/uncategorized/best_advice_from_government_about_salmonella_cantaloupe_-_when_in_doubt_throw_it_out/#comment-23348 I’m in Chicago and my husband had purchased a cantaloupe a little more than a week ago. He already ate a chunk of it but fortunately hasn’t become ill yet. I’m upset because the cantaloupe has a sticker on it and I want to know how to identify the potentially problematic cantaloupes, but I’m not finding any information anywhere. I totally agree that the things should have simply been recalled, the consumers should not be forced to throw away all of their cantaloupes when 99% of them are fine. And now we don’t want to purchase another one, which is hurting the other growers. Another gross mishandling by the FDA. ]]>
