News & Notes

  • Flu (influenza) season is ongoing and it's never too late to get vaccinated! We recommend that everyone get vaccinated (especially those at higher risk for complications: children <5 years old, adults >65 years old, pregnant women, and people with chronic illnesses). Learn more about preventing flu here: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/prevent/prevention.htm. The weekly U.S. influenza surveillance report from CDC can be found here: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/.
  •  Winter months often bring outbreaks of norovirus. The best way to protect you and your family from norovirus is to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. For more information about the symptoms of norovirus and what you can do to prevent illness, visit the CDC's website here: https://www.cdc.gov/norovirus/index.html
  • TDH is working closely with CDC and metro/regional health departments to prepare and respond to the 2019 Novel Coronavirus identified in China. More information can be found here: https://www.tn.gov/health/cedep/ncov.html.
